Spring has Sprung

The leaves are coming out on the trees, flowers are blooming, the garden is taking shape and the brief winter cold is over. I love seeing the earth come to life.

After spending much of my week trying to break a fever and overcome a sinuse infection I need the freshness of spring to lift my spirits and make me feel better.

Genesis 1:11 (NKJV)

“Then God said, ‘Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them’; and it was so.”

God the creator of all things is the only one who can make spring happen.

Thank you Lord for spring and new life! Enjoy your week and I will be back next week with more!

Lesson from the Tree

lesson from the tree

As I contemplated what to write this week I had to spend some time in quiet. I had to get away where there was no TV or radio or anything. So this morning I tried going for a walk with Nemo but that was too hot and all I could think about was the heat. Then I decided to sit under the tree in the back yard. It was a bit cooler under there.

As I sat in my lawn chair, I looked up at the leaves and limbs that created the shade I was enjoying. “Tree, if you could talk what would you say?” I mused. As soon as the words left my mouth a breeze blew and gently moved the branches. As I watched, from one of the branches I saw a dead leaf fall to the ground. I understood the message for my blog. God had answered me through the tree.

“Let the breeze of the Holy Spirit move you and the dead things in your life will fall off.”

A leaf on a tree will fall off because it is no longer being fed or is not getting enough water. In a draught you will see the leaves dry up loose their grip and fall off. Now for deciduous trees you will see the leaves fall off every fall because their life span is over. Some of them turn fantastic colors and then fall to the ground. It can be a beautiful sight.

In our spiritual life if we are allowing the Holy Spirit’s breeze to move us, I believe what will be falling off of our lives will be what we are no longer feeding. Moving with the Holy Spirit we will be moving away from sinful things. If we are not feeding sinful behavior it will start to shrivel up and die off. Our lives will be leaner and more vibrant because the dead weight is gone. We will begin to feel more alive and excited about life.

So take this lesson from the tree. “Let the breeze of the Holy Spirit move you and the dead things in your life will fall off.”

Enjoy your week and I will be back next week with more.
