Delight

IMG_2226I want to share with you today some simple but profound thoughts about life with God.

Psalm 104:27-30 (NKJV)

These all wait for You,
That You may give them their food in due season.
What You give them they gather in;
You open Your hand, they are filled with good.
You hide Your face, they are troubled;
You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.
You send forth Your Spirit, they are created;
And You renew the face of the earth.

1.   Our dependence on God is proven and true. Without Him we don’t have food, goodness, peace and life.

Psalm 37:23-24 (NIV)

The Lord makes firm the steps
of the one who delights in him;
though he may stumble, he will not fall,
for the Lord upholds him with his hand.

2.   Our delight in the Lord determines our ability to recover a stumble and not fully fall.

What is our delight? Delighting in someone or something gives joy and happiness. Measuring delight is a matter of measuring thoughts and feelings when thinking about a given subject or person. So what is your delight level with the Lord? When you think about God does it thrill you and make you happy? Or does it make you mad, sullen and upset? Or does it not evoke any strong emotions good or bad?

Those who feel happy and excited about the Lord have real delight in Him. They are usually people who are saved and remember their salvation, understanding that they have been forgiven their sins and brought into God’s hands for protection and care.

Those who feel mad, sullen and upset with God could be people who have felt conviction of their sins but not accepted God’s forgiveness and salvation. They are resisting God hoping to achieve peace and delight on their own. Their delight level is missing.

Those who feel no strong emotions have either never heard of the good news of salvation from sins or they were once excited but they let their daily lives remove their joy. They either have never had delight or they had it and rejected it. Those who rejected delight are in a very dangerous position. They cannot be helped if they stumble until they wake up from their slumber.

Acts 11:21 (NKJV)

And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord

3.   Proof of our delight in the Lord is visible to all because of the faith it produces in others.

Enjoy you week and I will be back next week with more.
